We didn’t take any pictures, do anything too special (the usual trip to Walmart OF COURSE happened) or make any interesting videos for this.
But I did snag this while we were driving from crepes to a thrift store with two of our favorite people! BTW, car rides ALWAYS involve silly faces, singing loudly and laughter.
We have fun together. =)
I’m leaving the country for a month. A whole month. Craziness.
I’ve never been to Germany or Spain, so both will hold completely new experiences for me.
Flying on a plane? Not such a new experience. I know exactly what it’s like, how my ears always pop or don’t so I sit there completely irritated, or how I always ask for ginger ale and pretzels, and how I have a hard time enjoying any film that might be playing because 1) my stomach is never settled and 2) with my ears having their issues I have a difficult time hearing the movie…
Not to mention the extremely small seat where my knees are almost always touching the seat in front of me, and my shoulders are even forced to stay up straight.
Bucket List: Fly in first class
The one thing I know about Germany and Spain? They’re far from New York.
They don’t have small town diners that play country music 24/7 (one of my favorite things), and I’m sorry, but I know for a fact that they won’t have this girl to spread any sunshine.
And I’ll admit it. I’m gonna miss F.L.A.B. #1 (Friend Like A Brother) [sorry boy -- I couldn't come up with a better name for you... help! anyone!?] driving around in his
beat-up beautifully aged Buick with his white sunglasses.
Unfortunately I don’t have a picture of such a thing.
I only have a pink sunglasses photo…
(I think that photo is just as good.)
But I’m gonna miss them…. It’ll be a long month without them.
Don’t worry. I will survive.
I have been busy doing things like this recently:
Making nieces laugh to the point of having double chins is a very important talent which I am lucky enough to possess.
Also: I grew up (well, sorta kinda). I graduated from my silly blog that I’ve had since I was very, very young. You know, the blog you start when you’re 13 and then never get rid of even though you secretly hate it? Yeah, that one. So I bit the bullet and got a old person blog. One with my actual name and not my nickname. One that’s not really tacky and only kind of tacky. Not gonna lie, it’s a little bittersweet. But mostly sweet.
And I also wrote a big person blog post. You know, about work and Jesus and learning things. It’s also a big person blog post because it’s long. NOTICE: I didn’t say well-written. Just long.
And… that’s all. I’m really all out of creativity and fun-ness. I used it all on making my niece laugh.
When I woke up this morning and rolled over to the open window the first thing I thought was, “what is that smell???”
smells like the first day out on the side porch. when we clean out winter storage, scrub floors, and drag around wicker furniture until our hearts content (or until mama come in and tells us just where each pice should go).
like main street; a walk to the bank.
smells like the nieces and nephews as they slip on their crocks and bolt out the door into the open yard.
smells like the fresh edge of denim as your worn out jeans transform into favorite cut off shorts.
like dirt on your hands as you weed out the garden for the first time this year, and mulch. it smells like mulch.
like 56 mph, windows down, belting keith urban like no one is listening.
or an open kitchen, sun on your face while you prep for an afternoon cook out.
smells like good things are supposed to smell.
I don’t care where you are; you know just what I’m talking about don’t you? It smells like summertime.
It’s not quite 10:15a (which means I haven’t been awake for two hours yet, BTW) and I’ve accomplished SO MUCH.
- I have accidentally hung up the phone on someone.
- I have forgotten the person’s name that I’m talking to. (which is just plain awkward by the way. “Thanks, Mr… uh, yeah, ok have a nice day!”)
- I spilled coffee on my clean jeans. FAIL.
- I poked myself in the eye.
- I have walked into a door… twice.
How’s that for dumb?
Arrival: March 31, at 4:03pm.
“My God is the Lord; hero”
He’s nice and chubby – just the way we like them.
9lbs, 8oz; 21″
We love you to pieces, and we cannot wait to see what you’ll grow up to be. But could you do just one thing? Please please don’t grow up too fast. Thanks, sweet boy.
