L: [ab]normal activities going on up in here.

You miss me and my ridiculousness? Ohmilanta I’m so flattered. In that case, here are some things you probably didn’t really want to know about.

- – - – -

First, I have recently discovered I love this song and next year on the night of September 21st [see lyrics if you are confused] I would like something interesting to happen. Then I can actually relate to this Earth, Wind & Fire song. So make something happen, people. Make it happen. MMMk?

Secondly, on the right is a very blurry picture of what has become my uniform.

  • Skinny jeans [preferably in some floral fabric that really should just be curtains]
  • riding boots [the preppier the better]
  • sweater
  • no jewelry

AND TA-DAHHH!! Now you know my secrets. Isn’t that, like, the most LIFE ALTERING information you’ve ever received?

I knew it would be.

Also, the messiness in the background is for real. I’m what you would call, oh, a person who doesn’t mind living in a pig sty. I’m rather un-domesticated when it comes to being neat and tidy.

THIRD[ly?], I found this daisy by a bunch of leaves the other day on my walk home. I think the daisy is slightly confused. WRONG SEASON, daisy. WRONG SEASON! Better luck surviving in May, girl.

That’s all I have time to write. I have, ya know, a real job.

you’re so vain

Because I’ve been “busy” and boring and, well, mostly lazy, I haven’t posted in a while. Seriously, though, nothing very interesting is happening in my life. However, many exciting things are happening at church. Which sorta makes up for my uninteresting life.

{Seriously, I’m the most boring 19 year old you’ll ever meet. Ever. Ever, ever, ever. As many evers as Taylor Swift sings in her new song. And, no, I haven’t actually listened to it. I am that girl who quotes lyrics to songs that she hasn’t actually listened to. Congratulations, you officially know someone who is that lame}

ANYWAY.

I just came to tell you that I got my hair colored. I’m growing my hair out for no real reason other than I want to double check that I don’t like having long hair {who does that?}.

I went to the salon today. Here’s the picture I took minutes after my dear sister colored and cut and dried and curled my hair:

And that, dear whoever is reading this super short, super lame post, is all I have to say.

Because I’m so vain that all I talk about is my hair. My HAIR, people. My hair. And that is dumb.

L: vacation.

We had family vacation this past week. Most years we travel. This year we tried something new and all the near-by siblings and their families stayed at our childhood home. I’m pretty sure we all loved it.

These are some of my favorite photos Daddy took {you can look at more here}:

Stay-cation Pt 1

Our room was put to good use right away. Dolls were played with by these three!

 Grandchildren

These kids are the best. I know this picture has someone’s elbow {?} in it and most of them are making silly faces instead of smiling but I love this picture. There are some spunky personalities and good kids represented in this photo.

Stay-cation Pt 2

Oldest brother and two nieces. SO RIDICULOUSLY CUTE.

Stay-cation Pt 2

Family vacations are filled with this: sitting {sometimes outside} and talking. And watching the littlest girls interact.

Staycation Part 4: Rocket Balloons and Birthdays

We celebrated the August birthdays and Mama’s. If you don’t love this photo of C, you’ve got issues.

L: Slept Through My Alarm… AGAIN!

Guess what I did this morning?

I committed a serious crime: no shower. *gasp* Can you believe it? I hardly can.

My methods of semi-masking my lack of shower have changed. Now my hair is long enough to put up quite easily. Strange, right? I feel like my hair was short just yesterday.

That’s all for now, y’alls.

L: {warning} lots of pictures.

I KNOW. I’ve been completely MIA. Life’s busy, okay?

Yesterday was a wonderful Sunday. The only things on the agenda: church and dinner at a friend’s house. Easy going Sundays are the best. Fo shizzle.

I sat in the back row of church. Maybe it’s just a lifetime of sitting in the front but I’ve really taken to sitting in the back. It’s my favorite.

The boys cut the pies & we had fresh strawberries with our dessert. And I’m quite serious when I say those are the cutest little strawberries IN THE WORLD. You can’t really tell what size they are but just trust me on that.

We took a walk. It was lovely. Stupid telephone wires got in the way of the picture but still. Isn’t this like a painting or something?

Lex learned how to shoot a gun. She did very well. We are all quite proud of that city girl.

C watched Lex. Then she participated:

Her hair cracks me up. Does it get any better than that?

All of us. There are some pretty fantastic people in my life.

I ended my day with a cappuccino made by my brother in law. OH YES.

Per Lex’s request: the video of me shooting the gun.

L: road trip music

I’m leaving for Connecticut tomorrow to visit J. Hello, road trip!

Confession: this is my first trip alone. Besides, you know, the ones where I’ve flown to foreign countries. So I should clarify: this is my first road trip alone. Which I’m finding far more weird. It’s a different level of independence. And it’s mildly terrifying.

I turned 19 last week and now I’m acting all growed up. Weird, right?

Anyway.

As with most road trips, the music is quite important. I already have all my favorite country music on my phone and today I bought a bunch of Shania cause there is nothing like Shania, Starbucks, and an open highway. But I still need to find more music.

So, what’s your favorite road trip music?

L: a coffee date.

If you came to my little gray office right now, I’d make you a cup of coffee and tell you that…

———

Grooveshark does not lie.

I am obsessed. I have seriously listened to this song countless times today.

———

Tomorrow is the day of the performance for all the little kids I teach choir to. I got a phone call today letting me know that a soloist won’t be making it because she’s sick. So I need to find a replacement. Like now. I need to finish costumes. I need to do a lot before tomorrow.

Honest? Teaching this class was one of the hardest and best things I’ve done this year.

There is nothing like teaching nearly 60 K-4 graders to help you realize how impatient you are and how bad at communicating you are. But they are my joy, too. Sitting there, listening to them sing, smiling and loving it… it’s my happy place. Knowing that in just 5 weeks of CFA, I’ve taught them something is kind of amazing.

———

Tomorrow is my birthday. Another year. I know I’m young to be all “wow, where did time go” and “when did I get this old” but I can’t help it. Where did the time go? When did I get this old?

I don’t know. Some moments, I’m worried about it. I’m worried that one day I’ll look back and wonder why I didn’t do this more or that more. Other moments, I realize that it’s out of my hands, anyway. Might as well get over growing up and the ideas that I have to do this or that before getting “old” and just live for Jesus.

Cause, really, what will matter when I’m old and gray? That I did crazy things when I was 18 or that I spent my time falling more and more in love with my Lord?

L: Update #2

Second update from Germany!

I find this one particularly hilarious. The little brother makes my day.

Also: these updates are far more interesting than anything you’d hear from me. Work, sleep, work, sleep.

Although, I did have a particularly awesome day in Montreal this past weekend. I’ll fill you in sometime.

For now, you can listen to C and the little brother.

L: videoblogs.

Here’s the first update on what C & Family are up to!

L: Car rides.

J came home for the weekend! She was a good big sis and came to meet Baby E and say goodbye to C as she heads out for the month.

We didn’t take any pictures, do anything too special (the usual trip to Walmart OF COURSE happened) or make any interesting videos for this.

But I did snag this while we were driving from crepes to a thrift store with two of our favorite people! BTW, car rides ALWAYS involve silly faces, singing loudly and laughter.

We have fun together. =)
