C: A date with The Music Man and my tea
Posted: September 4, 2012 | Author: C | Filed under: A Bunch of Random, Travel? Yes, we do., Uncategorized | Leave a comment »
- It’s a small crowd here at home tonight. Just me, Little Brother, and Sister #3. What are we doing? We’re watching The Music Man starring Robert Preston and Shirley Jones — I am beyond excited! I haven’t seen it in years and it’s one of my favorite musicals. Haven’t seen it? You need to watch it!
- I’m sick again. A cold has taken over my life once again. If you know me, it’s something that takes place way too often. My friend across the street has similar problems. His suggestion? Orange juice. Lots of orange juice. So I’m drinking OJ and tea.
- I’ve been thinking about where I’ve been this year, and apparently this year has been a year for traveling. So far I’ve traveled to Germany, Spain, D.C., Michigan, and North Carolina. Goodness, it’s felt busy. I’m glad to be home for a while now.
Anyway. Those are just some random tidbits. I hope your evening has been simply lovely.
C: First Breakfast
Posted: July 21, 2012 | Author: C | Filed under: A Bunch of Random, Summertime, Travel? Yes, we do., Uncategorized, Weekends | 1 Comment »I’m awake. Earlier than usual. And I can tell when I wake up earlier than what I’m used to because I’m more hungry — strange? Maybe. But it’s an excuse to eat homemade bread with jam and a homemade granola bar accompanied with coffee. YUM.
At 5:30 I said my goodbyes to J and L as they make their way to Honduras for one week. [they're pretty excited]
One week can bring a lot of change, and that’s what I’m hoping to do with the Cavern.
I know I know! “Changing the Cavern?!”
It’s true — It is about that time.
Although the Cavern has treated us well, it’s time for a new look.
I’ve got paint sitting on the floor waiting to be used.
I’ve already emptied the room quite a bit even while we were still living in it — cause I’m pretty sure you don’t need artwork hanging on the walls in order to fall asleep. {HELLO!}
Little Brother has a little “nook” in his room that he doesn’t use. It’s the perfect space to store a lot of our things — Win.
I think we’ve told you about the “Post-It” wall, right?
Well, it had to come down.
7 categories for 7 days.
Lots of silly notes that don’t make sense and pictures that would never pass as real art.
And of course we enjoyed some time in the Cavern with J — She’s home for good!
I’ll be posting again when this new look is done (I’m crossing my fingers!).
New paint, some de-cluttering, and lets hope L likes it when she gets home!
C: Almost home
Posted: May 29, 2012 | Author: C | Filed under: A Bunch of Random, Travel? Yes, we do., Uncategorized | Leave a comment »I thought I’d be flying in a plane for eight hours today, sitting in an airport for nine hours, taking a short flight to Syracuse, NY, and then spending tonight at a friends house before driving home tomorrow morning. But that’s not how things worked out.
We arrived at the airport, returned our rental car, and went to check-in when we saw our flight number with a nice fat red word next to it. “Canceled”.
Well at least the pressure of checking in on time was gone! We now had nothing to worry about EXCEPT getting another flight. But it worked out.
We’re going home tomorrow. So I had another day here in Spain. I haven’t been productive at all beside sending a couple emails and making granola for my hosts here in Camarma.
That’s it. I’m just waiting for tomorrow.
L: road trip music
Posted: May 24, 2012 | Author: L | Filed under: Music, Summertime, Travel? Yes, we do., Weekends | 2 Comments »I’m leaving for Connecticut tomorrow to visit J. Hello, road trip!
Confession: this is my first trip alone. Besides, you know, the ones where I’ve flown to foreign countries. So I should clarify: this is my first road trip alone. Which I’m finding far more weird. It’s a different level of independence. And it’s mildly terrifying.
I turned 19 last week and now I’m acting all growed up. Weird, right?
Anyway.
As with most road trips, the music is quite important. I already have all my favorite country music on my phone and today I bought a bunch of Shania cause there is nothing like Shania, Starbucks, and an open highway. But I still need to find more music.
So, what’s your favorite road trip music?

I find this one particularly hilarious. The little brother makes my day.
Also: these updates are far more interesting than anything you’d hear from me. Work, sleep, work, sleep.
Although, I did have a particularly awesome day in Montreal this past weekend. I’ll fill you in sometime.
For now, you can listen to C and the little brother.

C: Last Full Day At Home
Posted: May 1, 2012 | Author: C | Filed under: A Bunch of Random, Summertime, Travel? Yes, we do., Uncategorized | Leave a comment »I had one last full day here at home and I spent it with my special loves. And although I could write about the day, pictures are just so much more fun!
And I HAVE to show you this awesome sweatshirt L owns that I wore all day.
And that’s that.
I’m leaving home today — so goodbye Madrid and St. Lawrence County. You’ll be missed.
C: What I’ll Miss
Posted: April 26, 2012 | Author: C | Filed under: A Bunch of Random, Summertime, Travel? Yes, we do., Uncategorized | 3 Comments »I’m leaving the country for a month. A whole month. Craziness.
I’ve never been to Germany or Spain, so both will hold completely new experiences for me.
Flying on a plane? Not such a new experience. I know exactly what it’s like, how my ears always pop or don’t so I sit there completely irritated, or how I always ask for ginger ale and pretzels, and how I have a hard time enjoying any film that might be playing because 1) my stomach is never settled and 2) with my ears having their issues I have a difficult time hearing the movie…
Not to mention the extremely small seat where my knees are almost always touching the seat in front of me, and my shoulders are even forced to stay up straight.
Bucket List: Fly in first class
The one thing I know about Germany and Spain? They’re far from New York.
They don’t have small town diners that play country music 24/7 (one of my favorite things), and I’m sorry, but I know for a fact that they won’t have this girl to spread any sunshine.
And I’ll admit it. I’m gonna miss F.L.A.B. #1 (Friend Like A Brother) [sorry boy -- I couldn't come up with a better name for you... help! anyone!?] driving around in his beat-up beautifully aged Buick with his white sunglasses.
Unfortunately I don’t have a picture of such a thing.
I only have a pink sunglasses photo…
(I think that photo is just as good.)
But I’m gonna miss them…. It’ll be a long month without them.
Don’t worry. I will survive.
L: J is home.

When J is home, we do strange things. Like buy green eye shadow (seriously, why do I do these things to myself??), try on each others clothes, all order the same thing at the Hometown, and the rest is still unwritten.
Anyway, she’s home. So, yeah. You’ll get a real update soon. But for now, just know that we’re living life like we used to and she goes home in a few days.
That’s all.
L: saturday.
Posted: January 7, 2012 | Author: L | Filed under: Travel? Yes, we do., Weekends | Leave a comment »Guess where I am this wonderful Saturday?
CAN YOU TELL WHERE I AM?
Well, in case you haven’t memorized the multiple flower patterns in the background like I have, I’m at work. It’s a Saturday and I’m at work. But I’m not complaining. Nope. Not complaining one bit. (OK, I will complain about the alarm clock that went off this morning but who actually likes waking up to an alarm clock?)
You see, I took two and half days off this week to go visit some of my absolute favorite people. I went to Schenectady (the more specific location will remain unspecific on this bloggity-blog to maintain a sense of privacy. Although, let’s face it, we’re not really private people, are we?) to stay with my friend and her family. Then, Thursday, we took a train from Poughkeepsie into the *Big Apple, *also known as my favorite city and NYC. We ate food (in my case, lots of it), spent five hours in the MET, and went to Battery Park to look at Lady Liberty all lit up at night.
Did you know I’m spoiled? I am. I work for the best people (seriously. BEST PEOPLE.), I have the best friends to go visit and to go visiting with, I have a wonderful home I love coming back to, a Mama and Daddy who give me hugs every time I come home, C doesn’t mind when I land like a bomb after traveling and J gave me a wonderful, already-very-used ceramic coffee to-go mug. This list is barely touching the surface of the blessings in my life but I thought I’d tell you just a few.
I may be working on Saturday but I really don’t mind. Jesus has been too good to me to mind being here today.
*also, I fail. I have a camera and didn’t think to take a single photo the whole time. Big fat FAIL.
