L: [ab]normal activities going on up in here.

You miss me and my ridiculousness? Ohmilanta I’m so flattered. In that case, here are some things you probably didn’t really want to know about.

- – - – -

First, I have recently discovered I love this song and next year on the night of September 21st [see lyrics if you are confused] I would like something interesting to happen. Then I can actually relate to this Earth, Wind & Fire song. So make something happen, people. Make it happen. MMMk?

Secondly, on the right is a very blurry picture of what has become my uniform.

  • Skinny jeans [preferably in some floral fabric that really should just be curtains]
  • riding boots [the preppier the better]
  • sweater
  • no jewelry

AND TA-DAHHH!! Now you know my secrets. Isn’t that, like, the most LIFE ALTERING information you’ve ever received?

I knew it would be.

Also, the messiness in the background is for real. I’m what you would call, oh, a person who doesn’t mind living in a pig sty. I’m rather un-domesticated when it comes to being neat and tidy.

THIRD[ly?], I found this daisy by a bunch of leaves the other day on my walk home. I think the daisy is slightly confused. WRONG SEASON, daisy. WRONG SEASON! Better luck surviving in May, girl.

That’s all I have time to write. I have, ya know, a real job.

J: Forced Posting.

C is sitting at the same table as me as I shop online. She’s pestering me about every 4.3 seconds with, “YOU SHOULD POST!”

So… this is me posting.

Now look at these photos.

That’s all.

C: 5 important things about Fall.

1. Wearing the chunkiest sweaters imaginable. It’s a necessity of fall…. think.

2. Crazy socks are so important to me. Yes, most of the time they get covered up by boots or sneakers, but I can’t stand plain socks. So stripes and polka-dots and everything else it is!

3. I’ve recently kept a stash of chewable vitamin C on my nightstand. It’s a safety precaution for my health that I feel doesn’t actually do anything. But it’s the thought that counts supposedly.

4. You seriously thought I’d give you “5 important things about Fall”, didn’t you??? Sillies. This one has nothing to do with fall — I just found my distorted-animated-looking face rather amusing.

5. I found this picture (which is also not fall related) on the computer. Me and the newest addition to Sister #2′s family. He’s got the cutest smile, and goodness, how it warms every heart.

P.s. You might have been surprised that the picture of my “distorted-animated-looking face” was amusing to me, but perhaps the last picture helps you out. Anything can make me laugh.

C: A date with The Music Man and my tea

  • It’s a small crowd here at home tonight. Just me, Little Brother, and Sister #3. What are we doing? We’re watching The Music Man starring Robert Preston and Shirley Jones — I am beyond excited! I haven’t seen it in years and it’s one of my favorite musicals. Haven’t seen it? You need to watch it!

  • I’m sick again. A cold has taken over my life once again. If you know me, it’s something that takes place way too often. My friend across the street has similar problems. His suggestion? Orange juice. Lots of orange juice. So I’m drinking OJ and tea.

  • I’ve been thinking about where I’ve been this year, and apparently this year has been a year for traveling. So far I’ve traveled to Germany, Spain, D.C., Michigan, and North Carolina. Goodness, it’s felt busy. I’m glad to be home for a while now.

Anyway. Those are just some random tidbits. I hope your evening has been simply lovely.

C: Nail polish and Walmart

I know. By the title you’re just slightly lost. The only real connection they have is that Walmart sells nail polish and that we Sea Foam Girls help them out by taking multiple colors home to doll ourselves up.

But here’s the story.

Yesterday L and I were running errands at our famous Walmart (we also realized that almost every time we go into town we usually end up there… we’ve got some issues). I picked up some cosmetics, got a new grey nail polish, met up with L who had just pulled out some paint chips to try a new craft thing, and after getting a few picture frames we headed towards produce.

*So far, great story, right? I know. You’re on the edge of your seat! Just hold on*

The first few items we grabbed really have nothing to do with the good part of the story, so I’m just skipping over them. {sorry boring food items}

I then guided L towards the cream cheese area. No, I’m not kidding, I really did guide her. She was on her phone doing something and I literally had to tell her she needed to stop because “this is where the cream cheese is!”. So I dropped her there and headed for some Orange Juice (something I always love).

So I was strolling along, blah blah blah, and then *crack/splat*…. < that’s the sound I heard, just in case you didn’t catch onto that.

At first I didn’t know where it came from! Honest. So I took a step only to realize something was on my toe. I looked down and there it was –

Multiple puddles, a cracked glass bottle, and a newly decorated grey foot. No. Joke.

I BROKE THE NAIL POLISH!

I stood there in shock, almost like I had walked upon a dead body — ’cause you know, I’ve done THAT so many times!

Eventually I called over to L for help, and then she went looking for some Walmart employees that could help us. It felt like I was standing there forever, just waiting for her to come back with help on its way…

I never wanted to be that person. You know, the person that makes a mess of something in a store and has to embarrassingly stand there while the worker cleans it up??? But now it’s me. Hooray.

{At least I didn’t just walk away from my mess — right, J?}

So that’s my story. I hope your Walmart stops have been far more successful than ours.

L: vacation.

We had family vacation this past week. Most years we travel. This year we tried something new and all the near-by siblings and their families stayed at our childhood home. I’m pretty sure we all loved it.

These are some of my favorite photos Daddy took {you can look at more here}:

Stay-cation Pt 1

Our room was put to good use right away. Dolls were played with by these three!

 Grandchildren

These kids are the best. I know this picture has someone’s elbow {?} in it and most of them are making silly faces instead of smiling but I love this picture. There are some spunky personalities and good kids represented in this photo.

Stay-cation Pt 2

Oldest brother and two nieces. SO RIDICULOUSLY CUTE.

Stay-cation Pt 2

Family vacations are filled with this: sitting {sometimes outside} and talking. And watching the littlest girls interact.

Staycation Part 4: Rocket Balloons and Birthdays

We celebrated the August birthdays and Mama’s. If you don’t love this photo of C, you’ve got issues.

C: Before and After

Sorry it’s taken so long to put some pictures up of the bedroom — {major fail with that one!}.

But they’re here now!

Before:

(*this was taken during the process of moving everything out)

C: Weekend Sentences

It’s the beginning of the weekend which means I’m that much closer to seeing J and L again!

Just a few more days.

The Cavern is repainted completely, and I’m just letting it dry and cure and what not before moving in our loads upon loads of things.

Goal: Somehow use fewer shelves in our room so that we don’t block the minimal natural lighting. {crossing my fingers}

I’m sitting in L’s office chair right now. Therefore, I took a picture. I thought it necessary.

I found these treasures:

Thanks, Sister #4 , for the lovely picture. You were  are always good with those!

C: First Breakfast

I’m awake. Earlier than usual. And I can tell when I wake up earlier than what I’m used to because I’m more hungry — strange? Maybe. But it’s an excuse to eat homemade bread with jam and a homemade granola bar accompanied with coffee. YUM.

At 5:30 I said my goodbyes to J and L as they make their way to Honduras for one week. [they're pretty excited]

One week can bring a lot of change, and that’s what I’m hoping to do with the Cavern.

I know I know! Changing the Cavern?!”

It’s true — It is about that time.

Although the Cavern has treated us well, it’s time for a new look.

I’ve got paint sitting on the floor waiting to be used.

I’ve already emptied the room quite a bit even while we were still living in it — cause I’m pretty sure you don’t need artwork hanging on the walls in order to fall asleep. {HELLO!}

Little Brother has a little “nook” in his room that he doesn’t use. It’s the perfect space to store a lot of our things — Win.

I think we’ve told you about the “Post-It” wall, right?

Well, it had to come down.

7 categories for 7 days.

Lots of silly notes that don’t make sense and pictures that would never pass as real art.

And of course we enjoyed some time in the Cavern with J — She’s home for good!

I’ll be posting again when this new look is done (I’m crossing my fingers!).

New paint, some de-cluttering, and lets hope L likes it when she gets home!

L: Slept Through My Alarm… AGAIN!

Guess what I did this morning?

I committed a serious crime: no shower. *gasp* Can you believe it? I hardly can.

My methods of semi-masking my lack of shower have changed. Now my hair is long enough to put up quite easily. Strange, right? I feel like my hair was short just yesterday.

That’s all for now, y’alls.
